Patients affected by dengue in the country exceed 15 000 with 40 patient deaths, said the vice president of the Dominican Medical Association. Dr Clemente Terrero said that in the Robert Reid Cabral [Hospital] there are 4 wards full of dengue patients, with children in other areas, bringing to 50 the number admitted to hospital. Yesterday [3 Aug 2010] the minister of public health, Dr Bautista Rojas Gomez, stated that number of dengue cases nationally was 6727, of which 645 presented alarming signs (DHF), with deaths totaling 32.
