With Hurricane Omar affecting the Caribbean Islands from Antigua and Barbuda to the Virgin Islands (US and British) and Puerto Rico, it is expected that all containers left out in the open will collect rain water to overflowing.  Once the storm is over and the rains cease, these containers will become breeding grounds for the deadly Dengue Fever mosquito, called Aedes aegypti.

Immediately after the storm, all residents must take the time to seek out all such foci of breeding, eliminate unwanted containers of water and protect the others by covering them tightly with appropriate materials, turning them over or emptying and then securing them in a dry place.

All it takes is FIFTEEN minutes, once a week, to rid our premises of the Dengue mosquito.  Learn how: Download Container Checklist for Mosquito Control

Here is a visual guide to help and motivate you.  It was produced by the Virgin (US) Islands Department of Health, Division of Environmental Health and published in the St. Croix Source.
